His burial came as developments in the murder investigation offered some sense of progress.
The South African Police Service confirmed that two suspects linked to the fatal shooting were arrested shortly before the funeral.
According to reports, the suspects were taken in for questioning and have since been formally charged with murder.
The Gauteng Provincial Government praised SAPS for what it described as swift action in the case, commending investigators for moving quickly to apprehend those allegedly involved in the killing.
