Somizi Mhlongo recently took to Instagram to share his view on phone addiction in a relationship.
The star who used himself as an example stated what he went through in his relationship with husband, Mohale Motaung due to his phone addiction.
The Idols SA judge has decided to talk on the likely problems one can face of always being on the phone.
“It’s not the phone’s problem. It is the person who is using the phone. So, we are not blaming the phone, the phone doesn’t pick itself up,” said Somizi.
He stated that he is also guilty of such act which resulted into Mohale having a conversation with him about being on his phone “all the time”.
“It’s not even about me feeling neglected. I find it also to be too self-serving. If you are not on Instagram, or Twitter, or Facebook, you are taking pictures, you are taking selfies. I feel like, yoh, sometimes I wish to be touched like that phone,” he said.
Somizi went further to say that it is really necessary to always have conversation in a relationship when there is an issue.
He said both he and Mohale were always having issues when they didn’t discuss on the usage of cellphones which got in the way of their relationship.
“You need to sit down and set rules that are suitable for the both of you. You need to come up with the ‘do’s’ and ‘don’ts’ that work in your relationship,” said Somizi.
Many of Somizi’s fan joined the conversation, stating their view about it, including Andile Ncube who advised the star that the bedroom should be time for you and bae.
Many fans and celebrities joined in the heart-to-heart conversation, including media personality Andile Ncube.
“Your room should be a sanctuary, once you’ve made your decision to go to bed, be alone and still connect with your person and yourself,” said Andile.
