Ernest Middendorp, Kaizer Chiefs head coach decided not to attend the post match press conference after his team lost 1-0 to Bidvest Wits on Sunday at FNB Stadium
A Zoom press conference was scheduled for Middendorp at 7pm SA time, in a bid to discuss his team’s loss.
Unfortunately, Middendorp was unavailable for the press conference and his action could see him face the Premier Soccer League panel/committee.
According to the PSL handbook, it is an obligation for coaches to attend official post-match press conferences.
However, Chiefs were denied an edge for Absa Premiership championship after their loss to the Clever Boys, with substitute Bienvenu Eva Nga putting the ball at the back of the net at stoppage time.
Despite the loss, Middendorp still hailed praise to his players while speaking with SuperSport TV.
“It was not a disappointing game, the result was a disaster … but I think the mentality of the players was very good, they really were fighting for 98 minutes, the chances were there for 1-0, 2-0, 3-0. We have two games to go … I hope I can put the players in a right mind for the next game against Chippa,” he said.
