Maskandi star, Mbuzeni to collaborate with American singer, Rihanna

Maskandi star, Mbuzeni Mkhize flags South Africa to the world, as it’s been revealed that he will be collaborating with American star and singer, Rihanna.

Mkhize is known for his unique maskandi sound. The artist, who hails from Mkomazi, south-east of KwaZulu-Natal, said he was shocked when he was contacted by Rihanna’s team.

The SA guitarist performed his remix of Diamonds by Rihanna in Istanbul, Turkey a year ago, when he was scouted. He received a call from the team of the LA-based pop star that she wanted to collaborate a song with him after he had remixed her 2012 hit track, Diamonds.

According to The Sowetan, Mkhize has already began working on the song.

Rihanna could have chosen any person to work with her. But she chose me out of hundreds of maskandi artists. For that, I am honoured and humbled. I thank my ancestors for the gift [of singing].”

The Maskandi artist is to jet off to the US where he will collaborate on a song with the Barbados-born singer in December.
