South Africans are enjoined to get ready for another load shedding.
However, this load shedding would be reduced to Stage 1.
Eskom announced that load shedding will start from 9am on Friday as capacity constraints have eased today.
This reduced load shedding comes after four generation units returned to being active yesterday.
“Four generators were returned to service at the Duvha, Kriel, Tutuka and Kusile power stations. Three more units are expected to return to service during the night.
“Unplanned breakdowns stand at 11 250MW of capacity, adding to the 4 400MW currently out on planned maintenance” said Eskom in a statement.
However, despite the fact that stress on electricity supply has reduced, Eskom still calls on members of the public to minimise their electricity consumption because the aged infrastructures is unreliable.
“Any deterioration in the generation performance may therefore necessitate the escalation in the stage of loadshedding at short notice,” it said.
