Soshanguve magistrate’s court has denied Makgodi Josephine Pheeha bail.
21-year old pregnant Pheeha was accused of killing her boyfriend by pouring acid on him.
She appeared briefly before the Soshanguve magistrate’s court on Monday on the charges of premeditated murder.
The pregnant lady was arrested earlier this month after the death of her boyfriend, Andile Charles Rasmeni, 30.
She was arrested in Soshanguve, north of Pretoria.
The state was against her bail application because she could not provide sufficient reasons to be granted bail .
Magistrate Thobela Dimbaza said “she states that she is five months’ pregnant with the child of the deceased.”
“She explained that she is not well and has not been to the doctor. She said she is employed and if she is not released on bail, will not be able to provide for her two children,” he said.
The magistrate said a witness who gave her the acid could not explain the purpose of the incident.
Rasmeni’s brother, Johnny recounted his last moment with his brother
He said before the murder which happened in August 8, Rasmeni wanted Pheeha to get her own apartment.
“He said he was just waiting for month-end so that she can move out as they were living at our family home.”
“He never told me why he didn’t want her any more … They were fine but they usually fight.”
According to him, he never expected this.
Johnny was called to come home by his neighbours who told him is brother was sick.
“When I got to the gate, I saw an ambulance … We arrived at the hospital around 12.15am … He died at 2.30am,” he said.
He said his brother’s child was more devastated.
The case would be back on September 29 for further investigation.
