Etihad Airways introduces free COVID-19 insurance

on

Etihad Airways will provide COVID-19 insurance to passengers to boost travel confidence.

Airlines all over the world are looking for ways to prompt demand that the pandemic has ruined and might take years for infected countries to recover.

However, Abu Dhabi’s Etihad Airways said on Monday that if any of their passengers contract the coronavirus after going on voyage on one of its flights, then it would cover all costs for medical and quarantine.

Etihad further said the medical costs would amount to about 150,000 euros (approx. R2.9m) and quarantine would amount to about 100 euros per day for 14 days. It said it will cover all these costs for its passengers who contract the disease within 31 days of first travel.

This additional cover will not only instil confidence to travel but also reassure our guests that we are doing all we can to keep them safe and protected,” Etihad Vice President Duncan Bureau said in a statement.

This new development by Etihad is in partnership with insurance firm – AXA. Moreover, the COVID-19 cover has been included in the airfare of tickets for travel pending the end of this year.

Etihad’s move is in match with Dubai’s Emirates, which started the free COVID-19 insurance back in July.
