Runaway man accused of ex-girlfriend murder arrested

Tshwane police have arrested a suspect accused of murdering a 23-year-old woman in Temba.

It was reported that the man allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend brutally with a knife in a jealous rage earlier this week.


The 30-year-old fled from the scene and went into hiding.

Following an investigation, he was caught and arrested on Friday in Leboneng.

The police’s Kay Makhubele: “The provincial commissioner of the police in Gauteng commended the work of the detectives who worked tirelessly until they found the suspect who was in hiding after the murder.”

In another news, a man shot a social worker in KZN whom he accused of “cheating” and subsequently shot himself.

According to the provincial social development department in a statement on Saturday, 37-year-old  Hlengiwe Makhathini was shot multiple times on Friday by a gunman who she was allegedly familiar with.

“The attacker gained entry into her room, which was unlocked at the time.”

“The attacker allegedly accused Ms Makhathini of cheating on him before pulling out a firearm and fired several shots at the deceased.”

After the incident, the gunman killed himself.
