Eyewitness claims Dr Munshi was ‘shot with purpose’

Eyewitnesses present during the fatal shooting of Johannesburg anaesthetist, Dr Abdulhay Munshi have come out to give their side of the story.

The police is yet to give the public full details of the brutal murder of Dr Munshi who was shot dead on Wednesday but eyewitnesses claimed that the shooting was intentional.

An Orange Grove resident, who was watching TV as at the time of shooting said he heard multiple gunshots.

“It was quick succession… bang bang and then bang bang and bang bang.”

“I hunt and know gunshots going off. It was with purpose. It was aggressive.”

“You can hear when someone is shooting with purpose or panic and there was nothing panicky about that shooter.”

Some eyewitnesses took to social media accounts and stated that the perpetrators rear-ended Munshi’s vehicle and when he got out to inspect the damage, they shot him.

Another witness, Gregor Chaukw, a construction worker said he was mixing cement at a house next to the intersection when he heard the gunshots.

“There were two and then another two. It was scary. I dropped everything and ran with the other workers to the back of the house.”

They later came out when they realized it was safe to.

“There were people screaming. You could see the man dying. It was horrible.”

No detailed report from the police have been released yet.

Brig Mathapelo Peters said “police are at this stage not at liberty to disclose or confirm the deceased’s identity. The motive for the shooting is yet to be determined.”
