On Saturday evening, a taxi driver was apprehended in Daveyton while he was driving an overloaded vehicle which contained 24 passengers.
In a tweet, Gauteng community safety MEC – Faith Mazibuko said the taxi contained boys and girls, which had the youngest of them to be aged 15 years old.
“The girls say they left home saying they are going next door but they were going to a party. And you can see they have been drinking,” tweeted Mazibuko.

Police confirmed that they arrested the taxi driver for drinking while driving, with an overloaded vehicle and also being in the possession of an unlicensed firearm.
The arrest was part of operation “Okae Molao” which is led by the Gauteng provincial police commissioner and Mazibuko.
Police also apprehended a 32-year old man who had accusation related to selling of drugs to school children in the Daveyton area.
