Concerning the rumour going around about a proposed arrest of African National Congress secretary general Ace Magashule, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA)’s Investigative Directorate said if it was true, it would have been done quietly.
NPA’s investigate directorate made this statement on Wednesday after reports went viral on social media claiming a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Magashule in connection with tender corruption during his tenure as Free State Premier.
On Tuesday night, Magashule said he instructed his lawyers to verify this claims with NPA.
However, Investigative directorate spokesperson Sindisiwe Twala said she is yet to confirm whether or not Magashule was being investigated:
“If we were investigating him or if we were going to arrest him, we would have done so in secret. Why would we announce it?”
Meanwhile, Twala slammed claims that says Magashule had been called by NPA for inquiry or questions.
“I’m not aware of any questions that were sent to Ace Magashule to respond to from the Investigative Directorate.”
