Seven police officers have been arrested in Zimbabwe for allegedly throwing teargas into a bus filled with passengers in central Harare.
Videos of the incident were circulated on social media on Monday and the actions of the officers were greatly condemned.
The video shows teargas billowing from the windows of the yellow Rimbi Tours bus.
Passengers were seen struggling to crawl out of windows and drop down onto the tarmac.
Several passengers were left with injuries after the escape.
According to police spokesperson, those officers stopped the bus because they suspected that the driver didn’t have a license.
The MDC Alliance spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere who was disappointed tweeted that police brutality had now reached shocking heights.
However, the government announced that seven police officers had been arrested in connection to the accident.
It added that they would face criminal charges.
The bus crew was also arrested.
