National Assembly’s programming committee has approved Finance Minister Tito Mboweni’s request to postpone the Medium-Term Budget Policy Statement (MTBPS) by a week.
On Thursday, the National Assembly’s programming committee have accepted Mboweni’s request to present the MTBPS and related legislation on Wednesday 28 October.
His (Mboweni) request was to shift the date from next Wednesday, as a result of Cabinet’s recent complex decisions in respect of changed estimates for the current financial year.
He also pinpointed on the finalisation of government’s economic recovery plan and its effect on the process of the budget.
President Cyril Ramaphosa is expected to talk about a joint sitting of Parliament at 2pm as regards the plan.
