Linathi Ntshonga was reported missing in Khayelitsha along with Miyolo Gwinta. Their bodies were found in a dam on Thursday.
A pair of friends who were declared missing have been discovered dead on Thursday evening by police divers who got the body from a dam between Old Faure Road and the N2 highway in Mfuleni, in the Western Cape.
Linathi Ntshonga and Miyolo Gwinta were declared missing a week ago in Khayelitsha. They were last seen a few kilometres away from the dam.
According to police spokesperson Brig. Novela Potelwa, the attention of Mfuleni police was called upon when clothing items were seen floating on the water.
“When police divers were called out to the scene, the search commenced, resulting in the retrieval of the bodies late in the evening. The two families identified the bodies as those of the two 7-year-old boys who were reported missing.”
Police have opened an inquest docket for investigation.
“Trauma counselling has been arranged for the two families,” Potelwa said.
