A Marina da Gama man was apprehended in connection with the murder of his wife. Frances Carter was originally alleged to have been stabbed to death in her kitchen on October 17 at 3am by unknown assailants, but her husband William is now being held.
William (71) first reported that Frances was attacked by two men who broke into their home in Muizenberg. She was stabbed in the back and head and pronounced dead when she was transferred to the hospital. William also claimed that the attackers shot him in the stomach.
According to spokesman for South African Police Service (SAPS) FC Van Wyk, William was apprehended after being released from the hospital for medical treatment for his gunshot wound.
“Muizenberg police arrested a 71-year-old man [yesterday] morning on a charge of murder,” Van Wyk said.
“The suspect was arrested at a medical facility at the time of his discharge at 9.30am and he is due to make a court appearance once he has been charged for murder. In addition to the murder charge, firearm-related charges are also under investigation against him.”
