Former Bosasa Chief Operating Officer Angelo Agrizzi has been released on bail.
Agrizzi is accused of fraud and corruption.
He is also accused of bribery of influential people, including Vincent Smith, then chairman of Parliament’s correctional services committee.
Earlier this month, Agrizzi was transferred from Johannesburg prison to a private hospital with respiratory problems.
On Monday, Agrizzi’s lawyers mentioned that his doctors were not finding it easy to treat him due to being chained to a bed and said a lot of armed gangs were in his ward.
They said a bail should be handed to him due to his high risk of contracting coronavirus and his pre-existing chronic medical condition.
His lawyers said mentioned that it was unfair on the part of the court to deny him bail since he had no previous convictions and had cooperated with investigations and the state capture commission.
It is now good news for the lawyers after the court finally granted Agrizzi to be released on bail
