A forty -year- old man from Springs has been sentenced to life in prison after he was found guilty of raping his six-year-old daughter.
He was sentenced on Thursday.
It was reported that about two years ago, the girl’s mother left her with her father at home when he abused her sexually.
He then bribed her by offering her money in exchange for her silence.
When questioned by the grandmother, the child opened up to her and told her about the incident.
National Prosecuting Authority’s (NPA) spokesperson, Lumka Mahanjana:
“The prosecutor Advocate Adele Erasmus argued that crimes against children should never be tolerated in civilised society.”
“The man is the real father of the child; he raised her, and saw her from being a baby, and his duty was to love and protect her”.
