Former President Jacob Zuma’s prison photos got leaked and has been sighted by some social media users.

The Department of Correctional Services was not happy with how the photos got leaked and a criminal case has been opened as regards the issue.

After an investigation was carried out internally, it was revealed that the memory card may have been shared with a popular broadcaster.

However, the official in charge of the SD card has been suspended.

“It has come to the attention of the Department of Correctional Services that images were stolen from a camera of the official who had been assigned to take photos for institutional filing purposes. The SD card was removed from the camera and the matter is highly sensitive and is being investigated by both SAPS and the department. The official involved has also been contemplated with a suspension notice,” Spokesman Chrispin Phiri said in a statement.

“The department will be approaching the relevant institutions for further action. Department of Correctional Services condemns in strongest possible terms such action and will leave no stone unturned in bringing to book those behind it,” said Phiri.
