6 reasons people feel bad about being single

Being single and available is something that many people seek happiness in. However, many others hate it when they can’t find a suitable partner.

They don’t like the feeling of being “single” and always feel as if they are missing out on various things in life that couples get to experience.

This often results in such people always being in a foul mood and cribbing about their relationship status.

However, have you ever thought about why is it so? Why are people so desperate to get into a relationship? Here are a few reasons why people feel bad about being single.

1. They feel they have reached an age where they should settle down

Many people believe that there is a specific age when you are supposed to get married and settle down. However, this is not the case at all. Some people are going to find the love of their life straight out of school, while others might find them in their 40’s. You will find your soulmate when the time is right.

2. They feel they are unlovable unless someone loves them

Don’t forget that your self-worth shouldn’t be dependent on your relationship status. There might be several people who dated you in the past and many others are likely to come. But this doesn’t mean that you undermine yourself and stop practicing self-love.

3. Social media makes you think you are missing out

Many times, people get influenced by the wedding photos of others on social media. However, those couples might not be as happy as they appear in the photos. So, don’t let your jealousy get the best of you.

4. They feel they are falling behind their friends

Your friends aren’t your competition. They’re your support network. They should encourage you to do whatever makes you happiest. They shouldn’t shame you for being single. If you’re hanging out with a group of people who make you feel bad about your relationship status, you need to find new friends.

5. Their family pressurizes them

Your family should care about your happiness above all else. You don’t owe them a son-in-law or grandkids. You are supposed to do whatever makes you happy. Don’t worry about pleasing them because they are not in charge. Your decisions are your own.

6. They believe married people are happier

Your relationship status doesn’t determine whether or not you’re happy with your life. There are plenty of couples in unhappy marriages. Even though it might feel like love would make everything better, that’s not true.
