5 reasons why your skincare products aren’t working

Have you wondered why everyone has hopped onto the skincare train and their skin is flourishing but with you, the products don’t seem to work?

There are a number of reasons why your skincare routine will fail or even with all the products you have, your skin would even start to look worse.

Here are 5 of them.

1. You’re storing your products incorrectly

It’s important not to ignore the instructions on the label of the product. For example, direct sunlight can breakdown the active components in some skincare products so if you leave it in an unsuitable place like that, the product will not work well for you.

2. You’re using the wrong products for your skin type

You don’t use just any product because someone said it worked for them. You need to know your skin type and search for products that work on it. For example, if you have dry skin, try going for products that are labeled for dry skin and which declare to provide extra moisture on the packaging since that will be very beneficial for you.

3. Thinking more products mean better results

The number of products you have does not have anything to do with the results you’ll see. Too much of a good thing – like over-exfoliating your skin with multiple acids and/or mechanical beads – can result in redness, irritation, dryness, and worsened breakouts.

4. Over exfoliation

Exfoliation is important but it isn’t supposed to be done every single day. When you over exfoliate, you damage the outer most skin layer which increases your risk for acne and other skin issues.

5. Going to bed right after you apply your skincare routine

There’s a good chance that, your skin hasn’t fully absorbed the products right after you apply them so it’s important that you wait for at least, an hour before you put your head on your pillow otherwise your products will just rub off on your pillow.
