5 ways to cook eggs for maximum weight loss

Eggs are a great option if you’re trying to lose weight.


Not only are they loaded with protein, they have no harmful additives, they are relatively inexpensive and they have weight loss nutrients like vitamin B12.

Another great thing about eggs is their versatility in cooking style. From sizzling sunny side ups, to fluffy scrambled eggs, you can always count on them to fill you up — and taste delicious too!

Other reputable doctors argue that eating egg yolk is great for your health as well. Egg yolks are a great source of vitamin A, D, E, K, lutein and healthy omega-3 fats.

Unfortunately, egg whites can’t boast these same nutritional benefits. That being said, the whites do contain most of the protein, as well as nutrients like potassium and choline.

Below are 5 ways to cook eggs for maximum weight loss:

1. Hard-boiled eggs

Hard-boiled eggs are the gold standard for clean protein. They are eggs in their natural form and can be eaten hot or cold. The average hard-boiled egg contains five grams of fat, six grams of protein and has 70 calories.

2. Omelettes 

Omelettes are great, but you can abuse them by putting in bacon and cheddar. On a more positive note, you can use also them to hide healthy vegetables like mushrooms, making them more delicious. Other great additions could be spinach, onions, peppers or even feta cheese.

3. Scrambled eggs

The easiest way to prepare your eggs is by scrambling them — it’s tough to mess up scrambled eggs. The nutrition comes from what you add to them. Some people prefer little flavor, while others choose to put in a handful of veggies or spinach. Some cheese is fine, but you should watch out because it is easy to put too much in, especially if you’re trying to lose weight. A typical meal of scrambled eggs has a whopping 25 grams of protein and 20 grams of fat. Most carbs will come from the things you add to your meal, like vegetables.

4. Fried eggs

Fried eggs, or more commonly known as sunny-side-ups, taste totally different from their counterparts. They have a unique smell and texture. And, if you’re looking for an egg to put on a sandwich, fried eggs have to be your go-to. With that said, be careful because frying your eggs in butter or oils can easily double the number of calories.

5. Fritattas 

While this isn’t as healthy as the four other ideas listed above, fritattas allow you to mix veggies, cheese, eggs and meats all into one. It gives you an omelet feel, while being an overall heartier dish. Also, because they are cooked for a much longer period of time, you can add in vegetables you wouldn’t normally be able to, like broccoli.

If you’re trying to lose weight, do be careful with fritattas because you can easily overload on non-healthy products, like extra cheese or bacon. Remember: a little goes a long way!
