Omicron, the new variant of Coronavirus, has left the world scared once again. The variant, first detected in Botswana, Africa, has now reached 40 more countries.

While experts are still trying to unravel the true nature of this superfast spreading virus, here are a few things that you must keep in mind stepping outside your house:

1. Get vaccinated

First thing first, get yourself vaccinated as soon as possible! In fact, a number of countries are not allowing entry to unvaxxed travellers. Vaccines are the only way out!

2. Check travel guidelines before planning a trip

Omicron has once again forced state governments to introduce new travel guidelines for both domestic and international travellers. Quarantine rules also vary from state to state, so it’s important to know the COVID-related guidelines of the destination.

3. Face mask

Considering how fast this new variant is spreading, face masks are a must! Make sure your mouth and nose are well covered with a double-layered mask before stepping out.

4. Maintain social distance

Avoid going to public places that are crowded. Maintaining a social distance is quite essential amid the rising number of Omicron in the world. Also avoid air-conditioned places to avoid the risk of spread. Make sure you are at a well-ventilated place or in an open area.

5. Maintain a hygienic lifestyle

People must engage and work towards leading a healthy and hygienic lifestyle. Kids must avoid touching objects that might infect the hands, therefore hand sanitisers are utmost important. This is one of the key factors of the spread of the virus.
