36 students were suspended from Leondale Secondary School, Ekurhuleni, on Friday 22 April after a video of them dancing to the viral amapiano song, Di Patje by Felo Le Tee and Myztro feat. Daliwonga surfaced on the internet.

The pupils were not only dancing but smoking dagga on school premises.

Gauteng education MEC Panyaza Lesufi who visited the school addressed the students and the school governing the body that there will be an immediate disciplinary hearing for the pupils who jumped on the challenge.

“We said to the school governing body that there will be an urgent disciplinary hearing by this weekend.

Panyaza said those who sell dagga to the kids will be taken to court, and a case will be opened against them.

“We want to know who is selling this, who was distributing this and we want to know who is influencing our children wrongly,” he said.

“My children, you have choices. Either you want to be a learner or not.”

“We can’t tolerate a situation where children smoke drugs inside the school premises,” he said.
