5 Indian dishes you should try

There is no arguing that we need food to survive. But that aside, there is a huge difference between bland food and good food.

Everyone has that one dish that they would literally have over and over again and for me that is Indian food.

Indian food has this rich flavour to it and the unique quality makes it hard to compare with anything else.

I’ve had the opportunity to try out a couple of different dishes and this is my top five list of meals you should try out too:

1. Butter chicken

Chicken is just one of those ingredients that can blend into different meals. There are already popular versions like the famous chicken biriyani dish and some basic but delicious meals like fried chicken, yum!

So, now you should try something different like butter chicken. It’s so creamy and it’s prepared with a delicate balance of Indian spices. This tastes great with something like the butter naan or garlic naan.

Plus, if you’re not a fan of chili, you can request it to be done mild.

2. Lamb rogan josh

This is another Indian dish that’s at the top of the list for me. It’s basically a lamb curry and it’s a nice alternative when you’re looking for something else to try other than dishes with chicken.

This dish has a very distinct shade of red and sometimes brown, and it will get your taste buds dancing the moment you set your eyes on it leave alone have a taste.

You can have this with rice, naan or even chapati.

3. Prawn curry

Fried fish and other common versions of sea food are great but have you tried the prawn curry yet? This dish might just be your new favorite sea food meal because the creamy texture and flavorful taste will instantly draw you in.

You can also try the Indian style garlic and ginger prawns just to switch things up once on a while.

4. Potato masala

Preparing potato masala with simple Indian species is something you can actually learn to do at home. This will give you a new potato dish with an interesting twist because who wants to just eat boiled or plain fried potatoes all the time?

You can even customize this meal by adding in some veggies whenever you want to give this meal a healthy kick.

5. Dal makhani

This dish is a simple veggie dish that you can also try out. There is a balance of creamy and sour flavors from the butter and the tomatoes and this is something you might like especially if you’re on a budget.

The two main ingredients are kidney beans and black gram, and you can get tons of videos that can show you how to make this dish at home.

The entire preparation process needs some patience but it’s all worth it in the end.
