Eggshell, which is the outer layer of edible egg, is often thrown away. However, do you know that these shells are loaded with calcium and other nutrients?

Here are a few useful ways to reuse eggshells and gain maximum benefits.

1. Cleaning pans

Crushed shells can be used to clean pans and pots mixed with soapy water and baking soda.

2. ​Seed starter

On a creative note, egg shells can also be used as tiny pots to germinate the seeds. All you need to do is, fill half of a shell with dirt, then plant the seed, and let it germinate.

3. For feeding birds

You can even use baked shells to feed birds. As per studies, baked shells give them the calcium they need after laying eggs.

4. Use for broth

Eggshells are loaded with collagen, calcium, and glucosamine, and they can be used in making bone broth healthier.

5. Add to coffee

As per reports, adding eggshells to your coffee makes the cup less acidic. You can use either the powdered or finely broken shell of an egg to make 4 cups of coffee.

6. ​Add to apple cider vinegar

Simply mix dried eggshells into a jar of apple cider vinegar and mix well. This concoction is effective for relieving acid reflux and treating minor skin irritations.

7. Eggshell toothpaste

Mix 1/4 cup crushed eggshells, 2 tbsp coconut oil, 1 tbsp baking soda, 1/2 tsp castile soap, and a few drops of peppermint essential oil. Mix well and your homemade eggshell toothpaste is ready.

8. Add to soups and juices

Eggshells are rich in calcium, so, to meet your daily calcium needs, you may add powdered eggshells to your soups, juices, stews, and smoothies to gain benefits. As per studies, half an eggshell is sufficient to meet your daily calcium needs.
