Burgers are one of the favourite fast food snacks for many of us.


The freshly baked soft bun enveloping a crispy patty along with melting cheese and various condiments never fail to awaken our taste buds.

Burger originated in the United States and later the craze spread throughout the world. As it entered various cultures and food traditions, many interesting regional varieties of it came up.

Today, there are hundreds of different types of burgers, each unique and delicious in its own way. Also, it is very easy to make a burger of your choice at home.

Here is a look at 5 easy recipes to make it at home.

1. ​Classic veg cheeseburger

1. Mash 1/2 kilograms of boiled potatoes. Season with salt and pepper (as per taste).

2. Shape the mixture into 3 equally sized patties.

3. Heat a grill pan to high. Grill patties until crust develops and they become crispy. If using cheese, top on patties 2 to 3 minutes before they are finished cooking.

4. Slice 1 tomato and 1 onion.

5. Place patties on buns and add tomato and onion slices along with iceberg lettuce before serving.

2. Turkey burger

1. In a large bowl, mix together 1/2 kg ground turkey, 1 egg (beaten), 2 minced garlic cloves, 1 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce, and 2 tbsp. chopped parsley, then season with salt and pepper. Form mixture into four flat patties.

2. In a medium skillet over medium heat, heat 1 tbsp. olive oil. Add patties and cook until golden and cooked through, 5 minutes per side.

3. Serve on a bun with desired toppings – lettuce, sliced onions and tomatoes, mayonnaise etc.

3. Chicken burger

1. In a large bowl, combine 1/2 kg ground chicken, 3/4 tsp. smoked paprika, 1 minced garlic clove, 3 minced onions, and season with salt and pepper. Divide mixture into 4 patties.

2. In a large skillet over medium heat, heat 2 tbsp. olive oil. Add patties and cook, flipping once, until golden (8 to 10 minutes). Top with 1 slice cheddar cheese per patty, cover, and cook until just melted (2 minutes). Remove from heat and transfer patties to a plate.

3. Thinly slice 1 avocado, 1 small onion and 1 jalapeño. Split and lightly toast 4 burger buns.

4. Stack lettuce, avocado, red onion, jalapeno, patties on top of bottom buns. Close sandwiches with top buns.

4. Guacamole burger

1. Boil and mash 4 medium potatoes. Season them with salt and pepper and make 4 patties.

2. Heat a grill pan to high. Grill the patties until crispy.

3. Add 1 cheese per patty and let it melt.

4. Meanwhile, for guacamole, in a large bowl, mash 2 ripe avocados. Add 1/4 cup chopped cherry tomatoes, 1 minced jalapeño, and juice of 1 lime juice and season with salt.

5. Assemble burger by adding patty and the guacamole to buns.

5. ​Lamb burger

1. In a medium bowl, stir to combine 1/2 cup Greek yogurt, 1/4 cup crumbled feta, 2 tsp. chopped mint, and 1 tsp. lemon juice. Season with salt and pepper.

2. Divide ground lamb into 4 equally sized patties. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.

3. Heat a large cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook until crisp on the outside and still slightly pink in the center.

4. Spread each top and bottom bun with yogurt sauce. Top with the patty, sliced onion and top bun.
