According to the Architects’ Journal website, work on a new giant building is ongoing.

The building, which is to be twice the height of the Burj Khalifa, will also be built on the Arabian Peninsula – in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia.

The renowned Foster + Partners team is working on the project, supported by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF). The new skyscraper is to be built near the international airport, King Khalid, approximately 35 km north of the city center.

Foster + Partners is no stranger to the world of gigantic projects. Currently, the team is working on the expansion of the airport in Saudi Arabia, which after changes will be called: King Salman International Airport. Their tallest project to date is the 423-meter JPMorgan Chase headquarters in New York, which is almost completed.

Currently, the tallest structure in Riyadh is the 10-year-old PIF Tower, designed by a local architectural and engineering firm. It is 385 meters high. However, it will soon be surpassed by the Mukaab Tower – a 400-meter cube-shaped skyscraper advertised as the largest “inner-city building in the world.”

Since its opening in 2010, Burj Khalifa has become one of the most recognisable buildings in the world and a must-see on the map of every tourist visiting Dubai. From the observation deck you can admire the city’s panorama and dine at the highest restaurant in the world. Burj Khalifa is not only a tourist attraction, but also a prestigious apartment building and the headquarters of many international corporations.
