Legendary soccer player Phil Masinga has been confirmed dead. He was aged 49.
President of the South African Masters and Legend Football Association, Buddha Mathathe confirmed to the press on Sunday that Phil died at Parktown Hospital in Johannesburg following a long term illness.
Phil gained 50 caps for Bafana Bafana and is famed for his thunderstrike goal at the 1998 FIFA World Cup in 1998.
Tribute has started to flood social media including the Bafana Bafana and his former team Leeds United.
