A police officer was injured in the face during the protest in the West Coast town of Mamre on Monday.
The police had to face over 200 protesters in Mamre. The protests was said to be triggered by the mass land invasion.
They “Gavtol Capetonians” threatened to shutdown the city but the police were present and on high alert.
The police officers spread across Cape Town and several other municipalities while the protesters barricaded the road with burning tyres and rubbish. Some of these protesters attacked the police with stones.

According to Western Cape police spokesperson Brig Novella Potelwa, some were arrested, “Seven arrests were effected in Steenberg and Bishop Lavis for public violence as roads were barricaded with burning tyres and debris,” said Potelwa in a press release on Monday morning.
But, by noon, 25 people were arrested on charges ranging from public violence to contraventions of the Disaster Management Act after several run-ins between police and protesters.
“A police official was injured in the face during the commotion,” said Potelwa.
“Meanwhile, stun grenades were used on Prince George Drive to disperse a group of protesters.”
However, protesters in Cloetesville who were blocking the R304 dispersed peacefully in the afternoon.
