Nehawu strike: Blames government for lack of PPE for frontline workers

On Friday, Nehawu will stage a protest at all public health institutions in regards to problems faced by its workers in the fight against COVID-19

The National Education Health and Allied Workers Union (Nehawu) said the government have been looting funds in regards to scandals involving PPE tenders.


They said the funds are meant for the pandemic, but the government are putting the frontline workers at risk by not providing PPE to them.

The union said the government should be blamed for their failure in providing sufficient personal protective equipment (PPE) for health for workers.

However, on Friday, Nehawu will stage a protest at all public health institutions in regards to problems faced by its workers in the fight against COVID-19.

Nehawu also mentioned that on Friday, picketing will begin by over 235,000 members and by next week Friday they will cease from working in all public health facilities.

The strike would definitely have a catastrophic effect on the health sector which involves nurses and doctors in the fight against the pandemic.
