According to a report revealed by Sunday Times, it said investigation is being made on four contracts that are worth R540 million.
However, Khehla Sitole, National Police Commissioner made it known that the police service have allegedly been faulted with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) tender fraud and the Hawks are investigating the police tenders.
Sitole frankly insinuated that if the implicated officers are proclaimed guilty, they will definitely face justice.
He added that when he started running the post of National Police Commissioner, he instructed the presence for a review of procurement processes.
“The reason why the Hawks are investigation is part of the overhaul of the procurement investigation. I have also put in oversights around the procurements. If there is any suspicion, the matters must be investigated immediately. Investigations, both internal and criminal, is because of our zero-tolerance approach to corruption as well as the procurement maladministration.”
Sitole also made it known that companies that were faulted with PPE corruption have business connection(s) with the police.
