The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) have said it is after another top-ranking official in the Western Cape who has been suspected of being involved in PPE corruption.
Back in July, the SIU went after officials from the Matzikama Local Municipality over getting allegedly involved in irregular contracts.
However, the unit has now declared municipal manager at the Cederberg Local Municipality to be in connection to this matter.
The said municipal manager has been on the watch list of the SIU for some a while now.
“We found three contractors there that were given contracts in an improper manner. And while we were investigating them it then led us to other municipalities,” said SIU Communications Head, Kaizer Kganyago.
As at last week, SIU were not allowed into his building by law enforcement.
“Our guys were here last week he then asked the Metro Police here to block them from entering,” Kganyago said.
“He locked the offices because at that time we did not have the search and seizure order.”
