Gigaba implicated by Ex-transnet board chair in Gama’s reinstatement

On Monday, Mafika Mkhwanazi was back on hot seat at the state capture commission of inquiry after being questioned on why Siyabonga Gama (who was declared guilty of misconduct) was reinstated

Mafika Mkhwanazi, former Transnet board chairperson has tabled a supplementary affidavit that features an admission that Malusi Gigaba, former Cabinet minister instructed him to review the dismissal of former CEO Siyabonga Gama.


On Monday, Mafika Mkhwanazi was back on hot seat at the state capture commission of inquiry after being questioned on why Siyabonga Gama (who was declared guilty of misconduct) was reinstated.

The commission mentioned that his initial affidavit explained that Gigaba didn’t give him the instruction.

But during his testimony, he was questioned and Mkhwanazi mentioned that he would develop the supplementary affidavit.

The former board chair has fully made an agreement with the commission that several decisions of the board were irrational.
