Two sentenced to 258 years for robbery, cash-in-transit heists

Two criminals found guilty of several crimes including cash-in-transit heists have been sentenced to a combined 258 years in jail.

Boitumelo Aphane and Solly Monama were arrested in 2018 and remanded in jail till they were sentenced this week.


The duo were sentenced by the High Court in Polokwane.

The pair was found guilty of various charges, including robbery with aggravating circumstances, unlawful possession of firearms and the unlawful possession of ammunition.

Their sentences are expected to run concurrently.

At the time of this conviction, it is understood that Aphane had a previous run-in with the law and was serving a 25-year sentence.
