All students at the Buffalo City campus are expected to go into into self-isolation after over 26 Walter Sisulu University (WSU) students from four different residences and a staff member tested positive for Covid-19.

On Sunday night, Vice-chancellor Rob Midgley sent a circular advising all contact activity between staff and students to be cancelled in order to protect  students, staff and Buffalo City residents and to prevent the spread of the virus.

He said all students were to be confined to their residences until November 8.

Students would only be allowed to purchase groceries on Monday and arrangements would be made for food deliveries to be made to their residences later on.

He also added that counselling support services would be made available to students.

This announcement comes after University of Fort Hare confirmed 27 new positive Covid-19 cases namely 25 students and two staff members, confirmed last week.

As of last Wednesday, the institution had 60 active Covid-19 cases
