Losing weight takes a lot of efforts. From following a healthy diet to sweating it out, the whole lifestyle takes a 360 degree turn while we are trying to shed those kilos.

Finally, when one loses weight, the healthy diet goes for a toss as we quickly switch to consume all those meals we were deprived of during the diet.

There are so many reasons why people witness a weight gain spike immediately after losing weight.

Read on to know what you should do to maintain your weight after losing it.

1. Continue healthy eating

Ending a diet doesn’t mean ending your healthy lifestyle as well. Most weight loss diets play on the calorie deficit technique which helps in losing weight. Following a diet should just not be restricted to a few months but should actually become your daily routine. Inculcate healthy eating habits in your daily life and you weight will never bounce back.

Tip- Make sure you keep cheat days for yourself, otherwise you might end up stress eating your favourite foods.

2. Thirst vs Hunger

Many people interpret thirst as hunger and end up snacking on unhealthy foods. First of all learn to differentiate between the two. If you have just eaten sometime back and your stomach grumbles, opt for a glass of water. Always space out your meals in order to ensure that you don’t overeat and consume food in proportion.

3. Never skip breakfast

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. There’s an old saying that goes like: “Breakfast like a king; lunch like a prince; dinner like a pauper.”

The first meal of the day energizes you for the day ahead and fuels the body. When you skip the breakfast, the body stays lethargic and there are higher chances that you end up overeating by the middle of the day.

4. Opt for healthy snacks

If you wish to stay within your weight bracket and avoid weight gain in future, it is best to eliminate processed food from your diet completely. Most often, we reach out for biscuits etc kept in our kitchen, which are quite unhealthy as most of them have refined flour, sugar and are deep-fried. In order to satiate those cravings, opt for healthy snacks like fresh fruits, seeds mixture, roasted chickpeas etc.

5. Exercise

Last but not the least, continue exercising. Daily physical activity of 30 minutes is essential to keep the body agile and active. Exercising not only increases blood circulation but also makes one feel good from within. Be it jogging, home exercises or playing your favourite sport, physical activity is a must-have in your daily schedule.
