SIU (Special Investigating Unit) opened cases with the police after three companies were already faced with criminal charges.
The Special Investigating Unit’s special tribunal gave access for the unit to freeze about R38.7 million from several bank accounts of almost 40 Gauteng based companies that were in connection with looting COVID-19 funds.

Selby Makgotho, SIU’s special tribunal spokesperson said they’ve banned Gauteng health department from making further payments to the implicated forty companies.
“The special tribunal also ordered that the pension benefits of the former CFO who is cited as one of the respondents be interdicted through so the Government Employee Pension Fund has been interdicted from paying her pension fund pending the completion of investigation by the SIU.”
