The opposing party, Democratic Alliance (DA) accused the City of Tshwane for ignoring an environmental hazard in the city.

The party is bothered about the raw sewage spilling into Pienaarsrivier.

It indicated that nothing is being done to clear the river.

However, the City of Tshwane administrator, Mpho Nawa refuted the claims stated by the DA.

He claims that the city is working on it.

“We want to dispute that nothing is happening. There is so much that is happening, of course, it’s not completed but much work is being done to ensure that the spillage is being dealt with.”

“Technical workers are on the ground at the project,”  Nawa said.

He added that they are closer to solving the problem.

“We would have pressured the service provider that in the next three months they should have concluded the work.”

The assurance that I have received from the officials is that we are 78 percent closer to solving the problem so work is being done,” Nawa explained.
