A well-balanced lifestyle is a key to a healthy and happy life and a balanced lifestyle comes from incorporating healthy habits.
Often, due to heavy workloads and other stress, men tend to neglect their diet and start consuming junk or fast food.
While men may not see a huge difference in terms of health immediately, consumption of unhealthy foods and not following good habits can have long-term effects on health.
So, in order to get a fit & healthy body in the New Year, here are some easy and simple healthy eating habits men should follow.

1. Start the day with soaked nuts

Our body needs a boost of energy in the morning to ensure smooth and proper function throughout the day. If you are in the habit of starting your day with a hot cup of coffee, it’s time to switch it up. Soaked nuts and dry fruits like almonds, raisins, walnuts, and pecans are rich sources of calcium, protein, zinc, and iron. Soak a handful of nuts overnight and have it in the morning. Consuming them soaked helps in better absorption, and the body gets a dose of nutrition in the morning.

2. Salads for Lunch

Ordering burgers and pizza are definitely tempting, but your body requires a healthy dose of greens for good health. Instead of having fried foods, go for salads like chicken, egg, or fish salad. It not only has protein, but the added benefits of green veggies like spinach, lettuce, and broccoli are extremely nutritious. Tweak your lunch according to your preferred vegetables or meats, and your body will thank you for this amazing eating habit.

3. Sip on detox drink throughout the day

Detox drinks are the new elixirs for life. They taste great and have multiple health benefits. Cut a few slices of lemon, oranges, apples, and cucumbers and put them in a glass jar. Carry the bottle with you and keep on sipping this healthy water throughout the day. Add a few leaves of mint or basil for that added punch. This drink helps in removing toxins from the body, maintains weight, and also boosts immunity.

4. Fruits as a mid-day snack

Snacking is something we all love to do. But we can make snacking healthier by having some fruits. Apples, guavas, avocados, or even fruit platters work great as a mid-day snack. They are filling and healthy, and most importantly, they will make your craving stop for all those dreadful french fries and samosas.

5. Drink smoothies

Say no to aerated waters, packaged drinks, and juices. Make yourself a healthy glass of smoothie with fresh green vegetables and fruits, and your body will feel refreshed and energized. Also, smoothies make for a great breakfast alternative. Even if you are running out of time, you can make a smoothie with a banana, bottle gourd, cucumber, avocado, and any fruit or vegetable that you like. So, instead of skipping breakfast, include this habit of having a smoothie as breakfast.

6. Light meals at night

Try to cut down on processed foods as much as possible as they contain a high level of sugar and preservatives. You can start making light meals at night, such as khichdi, lentil soup, and plain rotis with sauteed vegetables and chicken. These meals are good sources of protein and fibre yet light on the stomach and easy to cook as well.

7. Herbal teas

Herbal teas are great stimulators for the body. While too much caffeine can disrupt your sleep schedule and has other side effects, teas are helpful and healthier options too. Ginger tea, chamomile tea, peppermint tea, and lemongrass tea are some great drinks as they help with immunity boosting, relieving stress, help with sleep, and many more.
